This tour will really give you a great feel for the history, mountains and scenery of Scotland. We travel along the banks of the River Clyde, past the stunning Newark Castle and viewing Dumbarton Castle and rock, before heading heading over the Erskine Bridge.
We make our way into the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park and drive along the bonnie banks of Loch Lomond, stopping to admire the views and impressive floral displays put on by the locals. Continuing along the Loch we head west at Tarbet and over the road to Loch Long, where we catch our first view of the Arrochar Alps, with the famous mountain known as "The Cobbler" dominating the area. Now we head to one of the highlights of this tour - we drive steadily upwards into Glen Croe until we reach the top, which has been known for hundreds of years as "Rest and Be Thankfull" (you'll soon see why!). After admiring the stunning views we make our way through the mountains to Loch Fyne and stop at the charming small town of Inveraray to spend a few hours. A visit to the stunning Inveraray Castle, home of the Duke of Argyll is always recommended or experience life in a Georgian courthouse at Inveraray Jail. Perhaps have lunch in the 235 year old George Hotel and try one of the locally brewed beers or a wee dram of whisky!
After a few hours sampling the delights of Inveraray and time to do some shopping we retrace our route back to Greenock, but seeing the scenery in a different perspective.
